In his recent May Day speech, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong pointed out that new technology in banking is transforming the financial sector. Among the new services, he mentioned robo-advisers, which like our own CONNECT by Crossbridge, use technology to offer investors financial advice suited to their needs and circumstances.
As the first robo-adviser in Singapore, our motivations for launching CONNECT by Crossbridge were simple. We found that affluent investors were not offered the investment options that are made available to wealthier clients through the private banks, and we knew that technology could open up those options to a wider audience.
We launched a little under two years ago with personalised, multi-asset, goals-based portfolios meeting the risk profile and objectives of customers utilising the platform. Since then, we have been in a continuous process of evolution and improvement. We were the first to bring Cash Plus certificates in Singapore dollars and also the first to launch a Simplified Chinese version of the website for those who prefer to manage their money in Chinese.
This week, we are excited to share the latest on our CONNECT by Crossbridge platform, which includes some more firsts – the first platform in South-East Asia to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) based learning models.
A big problem with traditional financial plans is that they are often off-the-shelf and inflexible. Generally they are reviewed once every few years and the adviser is trying to sell a product, not a plan. Walk of Life takes our existing goals-based investing a step further by tracking your life goals on screen. You set the objectives, the portfolios and the investments. If you are on track to achieve that particular objective, it will show green on your timeline. If your goal is falling behind, it will turn yellow – so that you can do something about it immediately. It shows you simply and clearly how your financial plan is tracking.
We all know that when it comes to investing, everyone – friends, family members, financial advisers or internet pundits – claims to be expert. It can be confusing to say the least. People Like Me uses big data and machine learning algorithms to recommend goals and timeframes based on the experiences of people in similar situations. The aim is to help cut through the clutter and provide a sound starting point to invest.Walk of Life and People Like Me are exciting because they arm you, the customer, with information that helps you make informed decisions that work for you. To make it even easier, we have reduced the minimum starting deposit to just US$1,500 – all the more reason to try out CONNECT by Crossbridge now.
The human touch
While we do believe in technology, we don’t think that AI and machines have all the answers. Our heritage as a firm with over US$3 billion under advisement is in providing personal wealth management services to ultra-high net worth individuals. We know that there are times where you simply need human investment expertise.
With CONNECT Prime – a premium wealth management service that is also fully digitally enabled – you will have access to a personal Crossbridge wealth manager who can assist with portfolio construction supported by an extensive range of investment choices. The minimum account size of SG$500,000 is significantly below the SG$3 million – 5 million required by most private banks!
The introduction of CONNECT Prime and the improved CONNECT by Crossbridge platforms allow us to truly deliver on our promise of ‘private banking for the rest of us.’
Grow your wealth with CONNECT. Try out our new platforms and take control of your financial goals and aspirations.
